Is this the same weekend as Carnegie Mellon’s Carnival?
Yes. Spring Carnival and Reunion Weekend 2018 will be observed April 20-21. It will be an exciting time for all Carnegie Mellon alumni returning to campus. Remember the buggy races? For more information, go to Carnegie Mellon Alumni's site.

What types of activities are available for children?
Children are welcome to attend Reunion Weekend activities under the supervision of their parents. Last year, there were 31 kids registered as reunion guests. There are a variety of activities available for children while you are here.

Here are some ideas:

  • Carnegie Mellon University has traditionally offered a Kidzone on campus on both Friday and Saturday, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Frew Street location in the morning, Midway in the afternoon). Moreover, buggy and other Carnival attractions may also be appealing to older children. View the CMU schedule of events, for more information on these activities.

  • The Kidsburgh website offers a number of ideas for family activities; the VisitPittsburgh.com visitors guide also contains a wealth of information for travelers

  • Depending on your comfort level with walking distance, the following attractions are walkable from campus: Phipps Conservatory; Carnegie Museums; and, the Nationality Rooms at the Cathedral of Learning, University of Pittsburgh.

What local transportation is available?
The City of Pittsburgh is accessible by ground, rail, and air transportation.

Public transportation is provided in Pittsburgh by the Port Authority of Allegheny County (PAT). Bus schedules are available at the CMU University Center and online. Furthermore, CMU’s complimentary fixed-route, fixed-stop shuttle service runs throughout the weekend.

Taxis are available in the city, but we recommend pre-ordering your cab service by calling the company to arrange pick up times and locations. Shuttle service may be provided by your hotel, but you will need to check with the front desk to determine whether or not it provides service to and from campus or other desirable locations.

Additional information regarding transportation can be found on the Carnegie Mellon Transportation Options webpage (please note, the “Parking” section does not necessarily apply to Reunion Weekend).

Golf Cart and Wheel Chair Availability: Should you need assistance, please speak with the staff at the Carnival Information Table in the Cohon University Center. If you would like to request a wheelchair in advance, please contact the Carnegie Mellon University alumni events team.

What's the appropriate attire?
Reunion is a time to relax among friends and celebrate! It is generally a casual weekend, however, most alumni choose to dress-up (“cocktail attire”) for the special Saturday evening All-Class Reunion Celebration which is a reception-style dinner. View last year’s reunion photos to get a sense of what alumni chose to wear for the 2017 reunion.

Are there facilities for those with disabilities or special needs?
We want to make sure Reunion Weekend is enjoyable, welcoming and accessible for all alumni, students, and their guests. If you or any of your guests have special needs, please let us know.

  • In advance: Please contact us via email or by phone 412-268-7949.

  • Onsite: Alert the Reunion Weekend staff by going to the Registration Area.

How can I volunteer for Reunion Weekend?
Alert the Office of Alumni Relations to your interest in being a Class Ambassador by sending an email to Alumni Relations. The Tepper School of Business aims to establish class committees by early fall, however, alumni are welcome to join their class committee at any point during the year.

What is the average gift alumni contribute in honor of reunion?
Last year, reunion-year alumni gave an average gift of $1,000. We encourage all reunion celebrants to give a gift at the W.L. Mellon Society level ($1,000+) in honor of their reunion milestone, however participation at any level is most important.

For more information on methods of giving, visit the Reunion Giving webpage or contact Jake Strang.

Who's invited to the Reunion Weekend festivities?
All Tepper School/GSIA alumni (and their guests) – regardless of year or program – are invited to attend Reunion Weekend. Each year, we highlight specific MBA/MSIA-reunion milestones and in 2018 we will be celebrating those ending in 8’s and 3’s. The Tepper School also highlights the most recent graduating class celebrating their one-year reunion (Class of 2017). Partners, children, and other special guests of alumni are invited to attend all components of the weekend.
